About the Gibb

The Gibb River Road runs about 660 km through the Kimberley between Derby and the Kununurra end, much of it unsealed and corrugated. Mobile coverage is very limited between towns and stations, so satellite internet is the way to stay in touch, check road conditions and keep working.

  • When: mostly open in the dry season (roughly May to October). Check the official Main Roads WA road status before you go.
  • Road: high-clearance 4WD; expect corrugations and river crossings.
  • Coverage: plan on satellite internet between towns and stations.

Quick answers before you book.

Will it work on the Gibb?

Yes, wherever you can see the sky. Set it up away from trees at camp.

Can I use it while driving?

Where should I freight it?

To your start town before you leave (Broome, Derby or Kununurra), or your home before you set off. Book at least 3 days ahead.

What power does it need?
